a plastic horse and an old Kubota shaded by apple trees
fruit that's fallen is bruised and softened and eaten by meat bees
each year I wait for the red of ripeness
to coat the skin and show its sweetness

scars on both my knees I got
each year I age the dead keep rising

a night of minimal rest
I wake up with no sound from a street
I go as I'm dressed
up the hill to meet for coffee
the fog hangs thick in the air
wetting the earthenware
dirt road turns to pavement
I am pulled by the slope of the land
you still have a green thumb
we don't agree but agree to pretend
oh the jasmine shrouds the stairs
underneath the sun wrought wooden chairs
we've already lost this place
if I'm here I will burn up too
is there any hope in ashes?
